Successful Setup: Men & Women
Now, this is assuming that you have done the talking part before setting this up and have a general idea of what you're getting yourself into. Understand what they like and don't like in terms of a setting, it's okay to ask this directly; you don't always have to be this "cool guy, know-it-all guy" and then completely fail. Now, let's keep this how it should be: Men, you should always pay at least for the first time; For Women, get a man who understands this as it sets the stage for, no joke, the rest of the relationship. Learn to be a gentleman and open the door, pay for the meal, and ensure that your partner feels comfortable by asking some goofy questions or just talking about whatever is going on. The goal here though is to make sure that you are talking! If you don't talk, you won't see them again. This is because this can come across in a variety of ways, none of which are in a positive manner. Set the stage for success, crack a joke if you understand their humor, ask more in-depth questions, or even look for question games online (there are a ton on TikTok).
Where Should We Go?
This is easy and short, no movies. Maybe a drive-in movie is acceptable as long as you both have already seen it and won't actually watch it. You shouldn't do this because when you go to the movies you WATCH them, you don't talk and it'll become really awkward. Find a simple place, choose an ice cream parlor, or take an evening stroll where the talking can flow and if it slows down then use your environment to keep the conversation going.
Where Did You Go?
Kandace and I went to a local place here in Olathe called Sylas and Maddy's. This was the perfect place because it's busy enough to where everyone feels in their own bubble while still allowing her and I to talk without being drowned out by the noise. This was also an amazing place to start because everyone enjoys a sweet treat, especially in the summer heat. You get to cool off and your brain will relate the nice feeling, evening, and yummy experience with someone new which can help your chances of landing that second date.
Overall
I would say that an ice cream parlor is the best place to start and isn't even close in terms of any other date that's friendly to a budget and having a good time. I would rate this a 10/10 date spot that others should try, and if you make it far enough, it makes for a great anniversary spot too!
