Let's Get Crafty

Build Together... Through Clay! What Does This Mean?     Building something together can either be an at-home, DIY project or going to a business that sells builds that you can paint and chat. I mean, building is what got you a relationship right? We all have to build upon our relationship to keep the foundation tough and the pillars strong, and this is done through many ways like acts of service, dates, and other ways. The point is, that you are here together having fun while enjoying and inspiring what the other creates, and in the end, you get to have a physical reminder of the date that you can put in a safe spot to reflect on while relishing in a fond memory! What Did I Do?     Kandace and I decided that it would be fun to go out and support some local businesses and chose a place out in Overland Park called Paint Glaze and Fire. Here, you can find many different-shaped pottery. From Harry Potter-themed trains to little gnomes, they have a wide range of se...

Surfs Up! Enjoy Each Other's Hobbies     Being able to enjoy each other's hobbies is crucial when it comes to having a long-lasting relationship. This isn't to say you have to love absolutely everything that your partner does, but you need to at least be able to love some of the stuff your partner does. While people say opposites attract, this isn't always true. You need something in common at the minimum, but it is good to open your partner up to new experiences/hobbies. A new hobby that you introduce your partner to is a great date as this can be a fun and new experience for both of you!  What Did I Do?     Kandace and I recently traveled down to Florida together and I got the chance to show her how to surf! I have been surfing for over two years now and always thought it was fun, but it was missing an element; a partner! While I've talked to others while surfing and it's been a great way to meet new people, there's something special about showing your p...

Take a Drive Where Should I Go?     Here's the beauty of a date like this, it doesn't matter at all. As long as you aren't driving off a cliff this one should be a no-brainer. Grab your partner, get the keys, and away you go. The goal here should be talking and sightseeing. Even if it's the same old town you live in or the city, you two are here to talk about the future, current ambitions, and anything that comes to mind like, "That dude's hat is weird," or "Did you see that stunning house!" Just let the conversation flow at its natural pace and don't be afraid to ask random things because that's why you are here. Too many people are caught up in the game of trying to seem cool and nonchalant which turns into hurt relationships that never form any true meaning. Let's change this though and add some brownie points  by bringing your partner to a special place to see something like a sunset or a cool thunderstorm rolling in. Where did Y...

Take A Swing!

Topgolf Fun! What is This?      This is where you get to explore and have some fun! What I mean by exploring is that this may be a new experience for you as many people don't play golf because it seems intimidating. This is a perfect way to get started without the stress of needing to be good! While it may take some getting familiar with in terms of the swing and contact with the ball, it's a well-worth experience as this place offers other amenities to partake in. Such amenities include a shuffleboard, corn hole, and a full bar on each floor where you gather around with your group or meet new people!  What if I don't like Golf?     This is no problem! This isn't just normal golf with very precise shots, there is a plethora of different game modes! My personal and fan favorite is the angry bird mode where you hit a golf ball in a certain area to knock the pigs down on the virtual display provided at each bay; score the highest and knock all the pigs over an...

Don't Overcomplicate! Make It Fun! Successful Setup: Men & Women     Now, this is assuming that you have done the talking part before setting this up and have a general idea of what you're getting yourself into. Understand what they like and don't like in terms of a setting, it's okay to ask this directly; you don't always have to be this "cool guy, know-it-all guy" and then completely fail. Now, let's keep this how it should be: Men, you should always pay at least for the first time; For Women, get a man who understands this as it sets the stage for, no joke, the rest of the relationship. Learn to be a gentleman and open the door, pay for the meal, and ensure that your partner feels comfortable by asking some goofy questions or just talking about whatever is going on. The goal here though is to make sure that you are talking! If you don't talk, you won't see them again. This is because this can come across in a variety of ways, none of whi...

Budget This One!

Play Both Sides Looking to ball on a Budget? Get a fancy dessert! What Does All That Mean?     What I mean more specifically is that if you are looking for a memorable experience but want to save a little bit of money, get some cheap dinner and then splurge a little on dessert! Go to Mcdonald's, get that 10-piece chicken nugget you've been craving, and then go to a high-end place for the end! My personal takes would be either a Cheesecake Factor vibe or Maggiano's where they carry beautifully handcrafted desserts that are usually made in-house and are well deserving of the $10 or so price tag they come with. Another way to take this a step up and into a more magical and memorable experience is to go to your local city and enjoy the sensory either as the sunsets or the pretty city lights at night while enjoying your dessert in a new or familiar environment. Where Did You Go?     Kandace and I decided to have dinner with my family and make it just that more memor...

Get Moving!

Get Off That Phone, Move! Looking to get off that phone? ... Take a walk! Where Should I Go?     The beauty of this is that a date doesn't have to have monetary value for it to be considered a date. Nowadays, everyone thinks of a date as going to that fancy restaurant downtown or shopping in the mall for that new designer bag. People need to shift past this and stop giving in to the trends! Hop in your car with your partner, drive anywhere you want because that's the fun part, then get out and put one foot in front of the other as you embark into perhaps a familiar area or into a new adventure that brings the mysteries ahead. The best part is that even if you don't go anywhere new, it's about the person next to you; it's about the journey rather than the destination.  Where Did You Go?      Kandace and I decided on a dog park. Now at face value, this doesn't sound like the most glamorous place to go for a walk. That's where you'd be wrong though as th...
